personal firewall Online Armor Free is a personal firewall that protects you from hackers, malicious programs and identity theft. It features a self-learning rule engine that automatically configures firewall rules based on the programs you are currently using, as well as an option to edit or create rules manually. In addition to the firewall functionality, Online Armor Free also includes a Program Guard that can protect you from executing programs unknowingly and stops unrecognized programs from running on your computer. Other features include a firewall monitor that displays all current connections, tamper protection, keylogger detection, Script/Worm protection and more. Note: Make sure you select "Limited freeware version" (a small option) when installing the software.

I was very pleased with this some time ago. Then it changed hands, the first version with new owner caused my windows vista to be unable to run any executable, after some issues with the install not going well had to start my PC in safe mode and remove it. A couple months ago I downloaded it again since some new versions had rolled and I hoped to return to it, since it was very comfortable to use. I was reasonably satisfied, though greatly annoyed because the install mode didn't work, as with some instalations it kept asking for permission each time the installer wanted to save a file. Until today, when for some reason apparently it was this that made the file explorer to become unresponsive and slowing the PC to a point it practically was hung up. A pity, because if it didn't freeze my comp like that it would've be a five stars and favorite of mine. showShow review details

A very good firewall indeed, but... I was not amused after installing Online Armor Free. After the installation I noticed a dramatic increase in startup time. More than 50 percent which was unacceptable. The inconvenience was over after UNinstall. showShow review details

I was using Comodo CIS, firewall install only, however, I found it becoming somewhat heavy for what I was looking for and opted to search around for an alternative.
